Born in Nara, Japan in 1983. 2009 Master's degree, Kanazawa College of Art. 2010 Completed training at Tokoname Tounomori Institute. Ceramic artist Rando Aso is interested in the connection between space and sensation through making earthenware. Through the process of creating hollow three-dimensional objects with clay, he creates shapes which interact with the invisible void inside them. These three-dimensional pieces, which have an unevenness that is tied to his view of the "concept of vessels", contain compressed space within their shapes. He lives in a SATOYAMA area and splits firewood himself to fire earthenware using the primitive method of fired on the ground uncovered. The pieces affected by the flames boast a rustic beauty peculiar to earthenware. In addition, the lumps of clay smoked by the carbonization firing give the space a solid texture like metal. When you appreciate these works, you may feel a gravity that draws out your inner emotions. His pieces are clay sculptures that contain the power of imagination toward void.
