HAYASHI Shiho "Biomorphic" installation view,2022

Japanese ceramic artist Shiho Hayashi creates ceramic artworks based on the motif of the fluctuation of curved surfaces and their amplification, with inspiration from objects in nature. The deep black colors made by firing to carbonization without glaze and the beautiful white glazes, with their unique feel, give rise to a monotone visual effect that adds depth to the artist's theme, and the organic forms in her works call forth a certain sense of physical closeness.

In recent years, working to distance herself from utilitarian vessels through her new theme of "pots," she has given pots a sense of movement, as if there were something hidden inside, to imbue them with a mysterious life force that, when combined with the irresistible appeal of the primitive and ubiquitous nature of pots, captivates viewers.

This exhibition is a sequel to the solo exhibition of the same title held last year, and will feature the artist's newest works on the theme of "pots," as well as other new and recent object works that she has produced.
